Following the issuance of the employment visa and entry of your new employee the next step is applying for the Social Security card. It usually takes the Social Security office 7-21 business days to process the application. After this processing time, the participant may call Social Security at the above telephone number to obtain their Social Security number over the telephone.

Their Social Security card will take 15-30 days to be mailed out to their requested postal address. If they do not receive a card and Social Security does not have a record of their application, they will need to reapply at the nearest Social Security office. Call the above number to obtain a list of offices closest to you.

What Employees Must Provide to apply for a Social Security Card:

• A completed Social Security Application
• Passport
• I-94 form (white card given at US Customs) placed inside participants passport
